Christmas Yoga

17th December, 2021

This time of the year can be very busy and stressful as we try to get all our ducks in a row before the deadline of Christmas. We eat more, drink more, maybe go out more (maybe not these days!). Between one thing and another, we often exercise less and our healthy routines can take a back seat. That's ok. We all deserve treats and fun after the year we've had!

But here's the thing. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. It doesn't have to be go crazy at Christmas, then fast in January. A little of everything - that's the way. Eat the mince pies. Have the glass of wine. Enjoy the get-togethers. Then at some point in the day, roll out your mat and have a little stretch. Head off on your own for a little meditation. No-one will notice you're gone and a calmer, nicer you will come back.

I am a firm believer in finding a balance that works for you in life, one that you enjoy and then live it every day. When it comes to eating or exercise, I don't believe we should be punishing ourselves. I can't diet, never mind fast. The minute I think I'm denying myself food, food is all I can think about. I think exercise should feel good. It's caring for your body, not punishing it.

So I won't be doing any January juice fasts or yoga boot camps come 2022. What I will be doing is a little yoga every day over Christmas. Want to join me?
